Bonding
West Linn, OR

At Roane Family Dental, we pride ourselves in having top of the line bonding options. Bonding is a method of tooth repair, designed to improve the comfort and cosmetic look of your teeth. A tooth-colored plastic, with the consistency of resin, is used. It gets its name because it bonds to your tooth to create a seamless appearance. Bonding is great for misaligned teeth, narrowing the gaps between teeth to give you a more appealing smile. It can also be a great option for stained teeth, bringing that glowing whiteness back to your face. We have even treated patients who have just gotten their braces removed, looking to put the final touches on their transformation.

It is also ideal for fixing more immediate problems too, such as decaying and chipped teeth. Bruxism, the clenching of your jaw all the time, is often treated with bonding. Other injuries like fractures caused by chewing on hard objects like ice are also great choices to be remedied by bonding. Small cavities can be treated with this method, acting as "white fillings". Bonding is often applauded for its procedure time, taking only one visit to be completed. On top of that, it is extremely affordable. It is the least invasive type of treatment, and perfect for those that want to improve their smile without the pain or time that other procedures may require.

How We Prepare

Preparation time for bonding is little to none, and a previous appointment for a consultation is the only pre-requisite. We will work with you to make sure bonding is the best choice for your tooth. You will most likely not need Anesthesia, but we will offer it if we feel it calls for it. Before the procedure begins, a thin layer of plastic called a matrix is placed between the target tooth and surrounding teeth. This is to make sure no stray composite contacts your neighboring teeth. On the financial side, we can check your insurance plan to see if any of the cost can be covered for you.

The Bonding Procedure

We begin the procedure by matching the shade of the resin to your actual tooth color. When the perfect shade has been achieved, we will etch your tooth lightly. The purpose of this is to give a somewhat abrasive surface for the resin to adhere to. We use a phosphoric acid that doesn't hurt at all, to achieve this. Compared to crowns or veneers, bonding protects your enamel the most. The composite is then molded, and shaped until a perfect contour is found. We then use a special ultra-violet laser to harden and cement the material to your tooth.

After that process is complete, we then further shape and groom the material to make sure your tooth looks perfect. A final polishing and buffing will ensure your tooth looks as good as new. Bonding usually never takes more than an hour to complete, although multiple teeth may require an extra visit.

If you would like to get started with bonding today, you can trust we are one of the top dentist offices for this procedure. Call Roane Family Dental at (503) 657-1215 now, to schedule a consultation.

I adore Dr. Roane and his staff.

"I have been a patient here for 10 years, since he started this practice. He has fixed my chipped front teeth twice, most recently this week. He is truly an artist and such a nice guy! My teeth look natural and healthy again. As always, the procedure was painless, quick, and professional. The office is clean, the front office is efficient, and everyone is friendly.

Dr. Roane even opened the clinic on New Year's Day a few years ago to treat my daughter's dry socket after she had her wisdom teeth pulled. I will always be grateful for that, and will remain a loyal patient here even though I moved to Tigard 2 years ago."
